Dear SVEPM colleagues,
It was a great pleasure to see so many colleagues at our conference in London. In matter of fact, SVEPM 2026 had a record-breaking attendance. As usual, we are already preparing the next opportunity to meet. And this time we will pay a visit to a country the SVEPM conference has not been yet: Italy!
I am very pleased to invite you join us 17th – 19th March, 2027 in Torino, to attend the next annual meeting of the SVEPM.
The conference is kindly being organised by Laura Tomassone, Cristiana Maurella and colleagues from the University of Torino and from the Institute for Zooprofilaxis of Piemonte, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta. The conference will be held at the Lingotto, a building created from the conversion of what was once Europe’s largest factory in the early 20th century and is now a unique industrial monument in Italy and the world. The factory has been transformed into a multifunctional centre designed by Renzo Piano. It is located 10 minutes from the city centre and 40 minutes from Torino Caselle Airport.
The congress venue is located in the iconic Lingotto district, offering a distinctive blend of industrial heritage and contemporary innovation, reflecting Turin’s long-standing role as a centre of culture, science, and design. While the venue itself provides a focused and modern congress environment, the historic city centre of Turin is easily accessible and offers delegates a rich cultural atmosphere, with elegant piazzas, renowned museums, historic cafés, and a vibrant culinary scene. The city’s transport infrastructure is highly developed, offering convenient access to a wide range of hotels, restaurants, and cultural attractions. This, in turn, contributes to Turin’s status as a convenient and inspiring destination for participants. In addition to the scientific programme, participants will have the opportunity to partake in a memorable social experience, which will include a gala dinner at Circolo Canottieri Esperia-Torino, a historic rowing club located in proximity to the River Po.

More information about the conference will be available on the SVEPM website, with conference registration opening in November. Until then, we encourage you to consider submitting abstracts of your work for presentation. Abstracts are very welcome on all topics covering veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine, including abstracts on companion animal, aquatic, molecular and field study-based epidemiology, as well as socio-economic methods applied to animal health.
We will again use our online abstract submission system. Please see the guidance for submissions here. The online submission facilities will remain open until the end of August 31st 2026. This deadline is fixed and late submissions will not be accepted.

For SVEPM 2026 we received 110 abstracts for the 21 available presentation slots in the programme, and we look forward to receiving your abstracts for SVEPM 2027. In addition, two-minute oral poster pitch slots will again be available on a first-come-first-served basis to around 25 poster presenters who wish to use this opportunity (you will have a box to tick during registration to express this wish). These provide additional time in the spotlight, and an opportunity for delegates to become aware of the most recent and novel work in our field. We very much value the poster element of the conference and again will offer several prizes for the best posters. A prize for the best early career researcher oral presentation will also be awarded at SVEPM 2027, along with up to three conference bursaries.
We hope you can join, and please encourage others to come to Torino as well. Please remember that joining and staying up to date with your membership is now very easy through the website. Spread the news, we would love to welcome new members to the Society! We wish you all a good summer and look forward to seeing you at SVEPM 2027 in Torino.
Best wishes,
Luis Pedro Carmo, SVEPM President
