Dear SVEPM colleagues,

It was a great pleasure to see so many colleagues at our conference in Uppsala earlier this year. The conference was a great success. We really enjoyed the opportunity to meet in person, hear of the most recent science in our field and enjoy the local food and wine. Preparations are now well underway for next year, and I am very pleased to invite you join us 26th – 28th March, 2025 in Berlin, Germany, to attend the next SVEPM conference.

The conference is kindly being organised by Katja Schulz, Jana Schulz and colleagues from the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI). The conference will take place in the heart of Berlin. As the capital of Germany, Berlin is easily accessible by train, plane or car. The conference will take place at the Charité Campus Virchow-Klinikum, which is located in the multicultural district Wedding, located in the northwest of Berlin. By public transport you need approx. 90 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from the central station to the conference location. The Gala dinner will be held in an old factory building in the “Fabrik 23”. The conference location, the Gala dinner and many different accommodations will be in convenient walking distance. Berlin is one of the most vibrant cities in Europe with a great variety of attractions, so it is definitely noteworthy to stay a few more days (https://www.visitberlin.de/en).

More information about the conference is available here, with conference registration opening in November. Until then, we encourage you to consider submitting abstracts of your work for presentation. Abstracts are very welcome on all topics covering veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine, including abstracts on companion animal, aquatic, molecular and field study-based epidemiology, as well as socio-economic methods applied to animal health.

We will again use our online abstract submission system. Please consult the guidance for submissions here. You can also find this information on the Society’s website. The online submission facilities will remain open until the end of August 31st 2024. This deadline is fixed and late submissions will not be accepted.

For SVEPM 2024 we received 66 abstracts for the 21 available presentation slots in the programme, and we look forward to receiving your abstracts for SVEPM 2025. In addition, two-minute oral poster pitch slots will again be available on a first-come-first-served basis to around 25 poster presenters who wish to use this opportunity (you will have a box to tick during registration to express this wish). These provide additional time in the spotlight, and an opportunity for delegates to become aware of the most recent and novel work in our field. We very much value the poster element of the conference and again will offer several prizes for the best posters. A prize for the best early career researcher oral presentation will also be awarded at SVEPM 2025, along with up to three conference bursaries.

Do encourage others to come to Berlin as well, and we would love to welcome new members to the Society. We wish you all a good summer and look forward to seeing you at SVEPM 2025 in Berlin.

Best wishes,

Timothée Vergne, SVEPM President
