Dear SVEPM colleagues,

It was a great pleasure to see so many colleagues at our conference in Berlin. We are already preparing the next opportunity to meet – I am very pleased to invite you join us 25th – 27th March, 2026 in London, UK, to attend the next annual meeting of the SVEPM.

The conference is kindly being organised by Lucy Brunton, Emma Snary and colleagues from the WOAH Collaborating Centre for Risk Analysis and Modelling (a collaboration between the Animal and Plant Health Agency and the Royal Veterinary College). The conference will take place at Senate House, located in the heart of London, an ideal venue for the SVEPM annual conference due to its rich academic heritage and central accessibility. In close proximity to renowned institutions like University College London and the Royal Veterinary College, the area fosters a vibrant intellectual atmosphere that aligns with the Society’s mission. Its excellent transport links, vibrant social scene, and a wide array of hotels, restaurants, and cultural attractions make it both a convenient and stimulating location for delegates. Away from the talks, you will enjoy an exciting social programme, including a gala dinner at the opulent Art Deco Bloomsbury Ballroom, home to the London Cabaret Club.

More information about the conference will be available on the SVEPM website, with conference registration opening in November. Until then, we encourage you to consider submitting abstracts of your work for presentation. Abstracts are very welcome on all topics covering veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine, including abstracts on companion animal, aquatic, molecular and field study-based epidemiology, as well as socio-economic methods applied to animal health.

We will again use our online abstract submission system. Please see the guidance for submissions here. The online submission facilities will remain open until the end of August 31st 2025. This deadline is fixed and late submissions will not be accepted.

For SVEPM 2025 we received 85 abstracts for the 21 available presentation slots in the programme, and we look forward to receiving your abstracts for SVEPM 2026. In addition, two-minute oral poster pitch slots will again be available on a first-come-first-served basis to around 25 poster presenters who wish to use this opportunity (you will have a box to tick during registration to express this wish). These provide additional time in the spotlight, and an opportunity for delegates to become aware of the most recent and novel work in our field. We very much value the poster element of the conference and again will offer several prizes for the best posters. A prize for the best early career researcher oral presentation will also be awarded at SVEPM 2026, along with up to three conference bursaries.

We hope you can join, and please encourage others to come to London as well. Please remember that joining and staying up to date with your membership is now very easy through the website. Spread the news, we would love to welcome new members to the Society! We wish you all a good summer and look forward to seeing you at SVEPM 2026 in London.

Best wishes,

Fernanda Dórea, SVEPM President
